How to Organize, Store and Display Your Favorite Memories: Quarantine-Inspired
Is anyone else an extreme hoarder when it comes to memories and keepsakes? I look at it as a positive trait because I am a very, very sentimental person and I love that about myself but it can also cause me a lot of headache to find the storage for everything. During this last year of staying home, I, like many of you, had so much time to get those time-consuming projects done. My favorite project, by far, was discovering shadow boxes and using them to display my most favorite memories and keepsakes. I had stumbled across a Pinterest pin (of course) before on storing previous tickets and passes inside a shadow box and thought it was the cutest idea. So this is where my quarantine started and now I’m just obsessed and have put all kinds of keepsakes in shadows boxes.
Shadow Boxes are a great way to display memories instead of storing in boxes that sit in storage
I have one shadow box that is dedicated to all of my adventures. I am not very good at taking thousands of pictures and videos during an event for memories (Too busy living in the moment, ya know) so I love keeping my tickets, boarding passes, maps from favorite places. I love looking at this box and remembering how thankful and grateful I am to have experienced so much in my life!

However, this next shadow box might just be my favorite one! I dedicate one box to all of the love notes that I receive from my students. I love looking at them for inspiration and motivation on those difficult days (remote learning, if you know you know). My students also love to know that I keep all of them and they are very special to me. This is also a great classroom decoration because you can still hang up colorful pictures but it helps your walls to be less cluttered.

Shadow boxes are also a great alternative to framing jerseys. I love that it matches my other hanging frames and shadow boxes. It is also a great money saver as well because I have found that getting jerseys framed can be a bit pricey.

I picked up all of my shadow boxes from Michael’s. I have always found the best deals on shadow boxes at Michael’s. They go on sale regularly and you can also use your coupons.
Here are the shadow boxes I am currently using:

I would recommend that depending on what you are filling your boxes with, you might want to plan for some wiggle room in case you want to add more to your box over time! As this winter weather has hit most of us hard, we are staying home once again. There’s nothing like a good home project to help us pass the time. Why not kill two birds with one stone? Declutter and decorate your home 🤍
